Shortly after an old friend's visit, Mr Crepsley leaves the Cirque Du Freak and heads for a city, taking Darren and Evra with him. The boys enjoy their stay in the city. Evra soaks up a lot of TV shows, while Darren catches the eye of pretty young Debbie Hemlock! But Mr Crepsley's behaving strangely, patrolling the streets every night, saying nothing of his purpose to Darren or Evra. -D.Shan

So this is young Darren Shan in his cute lil pirate outfit. He and a few friends, vampire Mr. Creplsey and snake-boy Evra Von , fled from the circus they worked for called Cirque de freak. Here they're in a new town and Darren has fallen for a human girl, Debbie Hemlock. He is helping her find new gloves to buy for christmas, while Mr. Crepsley boinks Evra for sneaking in the background. There's also a mysterious character here.. Shansters (fans) will recognize who.

Last christmas 2005 i posted a sketch of this to greet everyone for the holidays (if u wanna read the description go here: [link] ). But wait no more my freinds,the colored one is here! :w00t!: And this, like ~Celestina3107 , also celebrates my first drawing post for 2006!

I'd like to say i'm quite proud of this picture. Such a christmassy theme and yea i know - overcluttered, or the way i see it. i tried fixing it many times as possible, but end up liking it the way it is all over again. *shrug* so in any way, hope u still likes (esp those darren fans out there)! :glomp:

EDIT: took ~Substance20 's advice on the desaturation/blur on the background thing.

The cluttered background can be remedied by two things:

1) Desaturated colors (you can use it on the green-and red pattern below the shop window), or

2) [Gaussian] Blurs if you intend to duplicate a large-aperture photo.

There's one thing that bugs me about the drawing...the girl's sweater. If you look closely, the pattern seems too obviously flat, but given the fact that the fern pattern is broken, it doesn't stand out as much as when you use a tight geometric tileset.

Otherwise, I like the whole deal. I'm not a big fan of using actual photos for backgrounds but it shows that you're picking up stuff and learning to use them. :-)

*shrug* like i said, i tried "fixing" it several times (blurring and desaturating included) but i js end up liking the way it is. i know.. stubborn hehehe! :XD: i'll try it again tho.. tnx!

very cool, i can't wait for the next book, due out in may! so many thing happening around that time...KH2 comes out in march (it better, if square enix knows whats good for them) may i turn 16 (woot woot, baby!) and CdF comes out wiht the next installment! i can't wait!
